Room Data Sheets and Synchronizing With Revit
Room data sheets are organized overviews that provide the necessary information for specific room types. They are usually developed during the briefing (or architectural programming in the US) phase of a design project and help to clarify the requirements of the client for each space type. They can be used to create specification that helps design teams and contractors to know what is expected of each space and how they can ensure that any proposed solution is in line with the client’s needs.
Typically, room data sheets are drafted by architects and other members of the design team like interior designers and engineers. They are in the process of being developed and can be an “living document” until the client is satisfied with the final architectural design. The data from the room data sheets can be synchronized to the Revit model using a process known as backfilling. This method of verification helps to ensure that the information in the room accurately corresponds to the requirements of the final documents. It can also reveal gaps.
The Room Data Sheets component in BriefBuilder lets you easily create room data sheets and then use them to integrate with the Revit model. It includes a standard template set and pre-programmed select lists for the electrical and structural disciplines as well as HVAC and plumbing. It also allows the use of thumbnail size illustrations and graphics for each discipline.
The program is easy to use and doesn’t require any special configuration. It can load configurations that have already been saved, reducing the time spent in setting up. It also allows attributes like scale, browser organization and the naming to be set for each view created.
